Live Betting... Save Yourself!

Live betting should become one of the most important items in your betting toolset. It can mean the difference between you losing your money, you coming out on top or you really raking in the dough.

What is Live Betting?

Live betting is when a sportsbook takes a game and provides you with the opportunity to place bets on the match or game as it happens. These types of bets vary depending on the game in question. Live betting for an NFL game might include new spread bets as the game progresses. For example, what type of score will occur next? A field goal? A touchdown? Or no score at all? In a soccer or European football match, bets can include who will score next, when the next score will occur, or who will have the next corner kick.

Keep in mind that as a game progress odds change all the time. For example, say you are watching a football game and want to place a bet on who will score next. There are a lot of factors that come into play in determining these odds. Who has the ball? On what part of the field is the ball? Was there recently a long reception? How have the teams played so far? Each one of these factors is taken into consideration when determining odds and these odds can change in the blink of an eye. This is why it is always important to pay close attention to the matches.

Why Live Betting?

Well, it sure does make the game even more exciting to watch. The game has entered a higher level. You can sit there, watch the odds change, find something you like, and bet.

But even more important than the excitement factor is the ability to recoup a sour bet. There is no better example of exactly how live betting can benefit you.

Yesterday I was placing some bets on NFL games. The first game I won hands down. The second game was the NY Giants vs., the Seattle Seahawks. My initial bet was on the Giants +3.5. Yeah, might not have been the wisest bet in retrospect, but that is not the point.

Within the first quarter, the Seahawks were up 21-0 and the future was not looking promising for that initial bet. So I jumped onto my favorite sportsbook, bet365, and headed into the In-Play Live Betting Console. At that moment there was a spread bet for the Giants +21.5 @ 1.83:1. In other words, all the Giants had to do was lose by 21 points and I would win something back. I already considered my initial bet gone, but I knew the Giants were just too good to not make a comeback from this one. So I placed a bet on that 21.5 point spread to recoup my seemingly already lost bet.

The 2nd quarter came around and with just about 5 minutes left in the half Seattle scored again, taking the score to 28-0. Hold on a second, I thought I was certain they were going to win by +21.5 and now the line had jumped and fluctuated between +27 and +22.5. I had to put more money down on this one to make sure I won. I bet once again at +23.5 @ 2.10:1.

With just under a minute to go, once again the Seahawks scored to take the score to 35-0! I began to sweat again as the spread increased once more to +27.5 @ 1.83:1. And once again, common sense prevailed as I thought that all the Giants needed was to get to the locker room, regroup, and get back out on the field to unleash their fury. I placed another bet at the +27.5. At this point I had had enough and closed the laptop. It was up to the Giants next half.

To keep a longer story shorter, I walked away from the game knowing that I was now deep in it, but my confidence was still very strong; I was going to walk away from this one unscathed and potentially richer.

I walked away much richer. Instead of coming out the loser, I came out the winner!
